The Backup Wizard can be used to maintain text file based backups of individual database objects, such as forms, reports, modules etc. The wizard also allows you to re-create an object from the saved text file as needed.

When you save a design change to a database object, Access updates the LastUpdated property value of the object in it's container. The wizard stores and compares this date/time value and uses it to recommend whether a backup is needed.

The wizard, by default, will save all files under a folder called "backups.wzb" underneath the current database folder. The file extensions on each database object represent version numbers. As you make backups during development, you may choose to delete older versions of the objects.

To restore a text file, select the appropriate "Object Type" under the Restore tab. If the wizard finds any files in the speficied path, it will display the related version number and the object name in another listbox. To import the object, click on the Import Object button.

Please note that the wizard may not replace the original object in the database if it exists, in this case, the new imported object will get a number assigned to it. For example, if you already have a form called "frmA", and you choose to import the version "0" of the same form from the text file, the new object may get the name "frmA1" after import.
